San Francisco Film Festival Reveals Golden Gate Awards Competition

The San Francisco Film Society has revealed the films in competition for the Golden Gate Awards (GGA), which will distribute nearly $40,000 in total prizes this year in various narrative and documentary categories. SFFS is continuing its support for emerging global film artists in the United States via the Golden Gate Awards, which have been presented at the San Francisco International Film Festival (April 21–May 5) since its inaugural year in 1957. Given their spot on the calendar, with Sundance, SXSW and Tribeca ahead of them, it makes sense for the SFIFF to champion innovative new movies even if they've been screened at other fests.
